Beijing Express is near the office where I work, naturally I had to try it out eventually. I went with a couple of coworkers to the Kirkwood Plaza shopping center. We decided to try out this chinese restaurant because it had an advertised lunch special. I got general tso's chicken with white rice, a vegetarian egg roll, and a drink for under $5. The chicken was not of the best quality but still edible. However, the sauce on the chicken was not very good, basically tasted like soy sauce with additional salt. The rice was rice, it's hard to mess up rice when you have a rice cooker. The egg roll was pretty average though. Overall, I would only recommend this place if you were on a $5 budget and you didn't want another $5 footlong from the subway next door.

The staff there are nice and helpful. That is the only reason I gave it another star or it would have had a 1. I knew the food would be bad when guy taking our order said my meal would be ready in 5 minutes. Chinese food usually takes about 15 to 45 minutes depending on how busy the restaurant is. There was no one there. When I got home, my food was warm but tasted like canned chow mien you get at Walmart. The egg roll tasted like it had been reheated after being cooked at the beginning of the week. I think they may have been dated since the Ming Dynasty! Just because something is name ends with express doesn't mean their food should taste like week old garbage and be acceptable. I hate to rate it so poorly but, it tasted horrendous. For your own good, Go to one of the other restaurants down the road.

You can't expect too much from a place called Beijing Express. Let's face it, we come to such a restaurant for a quick, yet cheap meal so the quality of the food wouldn't be on the top of our list but this place really pushes the limit of how far a person is willing to compromise. Yes, the food is cheap here. Yes, the proportion is generous. BUT... I can not and will not recommend this restaurant because of their extremely substandard food quality (and that's putting it NICELY). Their chicken tasted like it had died again in their kitchen. Their shrimp tasted like it was left to spoil. They have little to no vegetables in their food. To sum it up, there are better places to go for a quick meal.

I had the tofu stir fry and it was pretty runny. I still liked it but it should have been cooked longer than it was. I have had the meat dishes there in the past when I was still eating meat and those were very, very good. I would recommend this place for its egg drop soup, egg rolls, wontons, and chicken dishes. I also recommend it for the cost; you can get a filling lunch for about $5.50.

My meal was not appetizing whatsoever. In fact, the food smelled so bad, I had to have the janitor remove my trash can because the smell was bothering my coworkers. Avoid at all costs!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
